One of Black Eyed Peas’ biggest hits was inspired by a U2 song.
Legendary music producer Jimmy Iovine has revealed that will.i.am wrote I Gotta Feeling after working on the Irish group’s 2009 album No Line on the Horizon. Jimmy says will.i.am came up with the tune after being impressed by the melody on the U2 track I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight.
‘I sent will.i.am over to the studio to do some remixes on I’ll Go Crazy,’ Jimmy is quoted as saying by British newspaper The Sun. ‘He works on them for two weeks, comes back and writes I Gotta Feeling.’
The Black Eyed Peas star is even said to have admitted to U2 frontman Bono and his band members that he had sought inspiration from him.
‘The chords are U2 chords, 100 per cent,’ Jimmy added. ‘Will even told them.’
I Gotta Feeling was the second single on The Black Eyed Peas’ fifth studio album The E.N.D. It was a huge hit around the world when it was released in 2009.
The track spent 14 consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and is the most downloaded song on iTunes of all time. It has sold over 14 million copies worldwide, making it one of the biggest pop songs ever.
Madonna regrets agreeing to such a busy schedule and realises she’s not “Superwoman”.
The 53-year-old is renowned for her numerous ventures, including her illustrious music career, her fashion empire and her film projects.
Speaking in an interview for UK TV Daybreak, the Queen of Pop admitted to sometimes being overwhelmed by her hectic diary.
“I’m thinking that right now,” she replied when asked if she ever feels like she wants to sit on the sofa for two months and do nothing.
“Just going from my movie to my record, and the Super Bowl and rehearsing for my tour, I really haven’t had a break. And you know, sometimes I think I’m Superwoman and I can do it all. Right about the middle of my tour I’m thinking: ‘Wow, maybe I should have taken a few months off.’”
Madonna likes to work her work schedule around her four children. The star prefers to wait for the summer holidays before hitting the road, as she can be accompanied by Lourdes, Rocco, David and Mercy.
“But I have four kids so everything factors in to all of my decisions. I think being on tour in the summertime is better because they can be on the road with me and don’t miss school. So I don’t just make decisions on my own anymore,” she said.
Madonna says although eldest daughter Lourdes is following in her footsteps when it comes to her fashion line, she is definitely her own person.
‘She doesn’t want to be me, I think she wants to be herself. She can do many things, she can play the piano, she can dance, she can sing, but I don’t think she really knows what she wants to do and I am not going to push her in any direction. I want her to come to that organically,” she said.
Madonna also discussed British superstar Adele. The singer wanted her to collaborate with her at the Super Bowl earlier this year, although that didn’t materialise. When asked if the songstress could join her at her upcoming performance in London’s Hyde Park in July instead, Madonna replied: “Maybe!”
Madonna teamed up with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A earlier this year to promote their track Give Me All Your Luvin’. She shocked Nicki days ahead of her 29th birthday by presenting her with a cake and kissing her on the lips.
The rapper said the gesture left her speechless.
‘She kissed me but I didn’t kiss her,” Nicki admitted on UK TV show the Graham Norton Show. ‘I wasn’t expecting it and I was shocked. I was shaking, thinking, ‘Is this really happening, why is she doing this?”
Pitbull has joked that his Men in Black 3 appearance was a result of the “law of attraction at its best”.
The rapper performs the theme song, Back in Time, for the upcoming science-fiction action film, which stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.
Pitbull – who plays Agent A in the video – says the collaboration was a natural progression which makes it even more special.
“Me and Will have hung out before, we never spoke about Men in Black, never spoke about making the record, so this really happened, I think this is the secret, law of attraction at its best. Maybe I will be agent A soon. Hint hint,” he laughed in a video interview with ET Online.
Pitbull is proud to be part of the hugely successful movie series. The 31-year-old star has joked he fitted into the star-studded cast with ease.
“As far as the movie goes, it”s pretty much a no-brainer. It”s a huge franchise and when it comes to branding and marketing we”re all about that. So to be involved with Men in Black and the way I look at the record and the way I look at the movie, man it”s an honour, it”s a blessing,” he gushed.
“They”re agent J, agent K and I”m agent A, and we are integrating the movie with the video, and we call that sophisticated integration. Yeah! We knew we needed a fusion, so how do we make something old modernised – that”s how we looked at it.”
Back in Time is written by Pitbull and features a sample of the 1950s track Love Is Strange by Mickey and Sylvia.
Pitbull has explained the themes in the song and accompanying video.
“Everyone knows the guitar riff, in the record, the sample, so how do we modernise it and make it fun. With the movie being about having fun and saving the world, and our music being something global, it went hand-in hand,” he said.
“When you”re talking about agent A, you”ve got to have the sexy women, so there”s definitely sexy women. We have a very beautiful Columbian woman, we have Mexican women. That”s my new name, Agent A slash United Nations. I just bring them all together, baby.”
Pitbull performed the song during a one-off gig in Cancun this week.
Grammy and Ivor Novello award winning Artist, producer, song-writer, multi instrumentalist and innovator Imogen Heap is set to create and astonish once again with the release of ‘Heapsong 6′.
This song marks the midway point of her forth solo studio album which she began on 14th March 2011 and is due for release in September 2012.
With typical game changing flair, Imogen is writing, recording and releasing the songs as she goes along. Affectionately referred to as “Heapsongs”, five tracks have been released so far – including the world’s first 3D song, a crowd inspired track, collaborations in India and China and a song connected with a project reviving a local walled garden.
Now comes ‘Heapsong 6′. The as yet untitled Heapsong will be released on 22nd April – Earth Day. The song will be performed live at an event held in the grounds of her elliptical home. It will be filmed and broadcast live on Facebook by FANetwork TV. The film will then become the promo video for the song – ie a live, one take solo musical performance and video shoot.
The performance will be completely unique, as it will feature “The Gloves”. Gloves ? Developed, created by and for Imogen with a team of over 10 (and expanding) friends and experts from professors to scientists, the gloves will give her maximum flexibility and mobility in creating her music on stage. Using these gloves, Imogen records and manipulates sound, plays virtual instruments and builds up tracks, all with gestures.
She can also amplify acoustic instruments via mics embedded in the gloves ‘ all wirelessly! ‘Heapsong 6′ will be that first time they have been used to write a complete song. The Gloves inspire and challenge her to look differently at sound and song in physical space.

One Direction may be conquering charts worldwide ‘ but Madonna has no idea who they are.
The boy band recently made music history by becoming the first British group to top the US charts with their debut album, Up All Night. They have attracted a host of famous fans including Katy Perry, Rihanna and the US First Lady Michelle Obama. However, Madonna appeared oblivious to the hysteria surrounding the five-piece during a TV interview.
When asked if she enjoys One Direction’s music, Madonna looked unsure.
“That’s a pop group, right? Sorry,” the 53-year-old star replied to UK TV show Daybreak.
When it was confirmed that they are one of the biggest groups in the world at the moment, she added, “I haven’t seen them yet, no, sorry. Slap my hand.”
While Madonna may not be aware of One Direction, there is another British act she is fond of.
The music superstar was full of praise for Adele ‘ who has also enjoyed chart success and swept the boards at awards ceremonies with her latest album 21.
Madonna revealed she is eager to collaborate with the 23-year-old.
“I would love to. I would love to meet her, I think she’s brilliant, I love her,” she explained, before revealing she had wanted Adele to join her for her performance at the Super Bowl earlier this year.
“I think she was having her throat problem or throat operation or something.”
Madonna was then quizzed on whether she would consider joining the judging panel for a TV talent show.
Stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Rowland, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Nicole Scherzinger have all appeared on shows searching for new musical talent ‘ with Britney Spears set to be confirmed as a new judge on the US version of The X Factor.
While many of her peers have turned mentors on shows like The Voice and American Idol, Madonna has no interest in following in their footsteps.
“I haven’t really thought about it to tell you truth and I’ve never actually seen any of those shows – I don’t watch television,’ she added. ‘And the contests, well everybody’s a bit contest obsessed. I don’t actually like the idea of being a judge. It’s so subjective – like what’s good and what isn’t?”

Lady Gaga is a ‘great believer’ in crystal healing.
The Judas singer is currently preparing to hit the road for her Born This Way Ball tour.
Gaga reportedly spent thousands of pounds on crystal pacifiers to suck on for good luck while she’s travelling. These stones, which may include agate and aegirine, are said to promote energies like ‘creativity’ and ‘sexuality’.
Gaga finds comfort and inspiration in these new age bijous.
‘Gaga is a great believer in these crystals,’ a source told British newspaper The Sun. ‘She’s got them all over her pad and she has had them made into dummies so she can take them on tour.’
The songstress believes that her consciousness is positively altered by the presence of these gems.
‘Gaga thinks sucking the crystal will install the energies in her body and mind quicker,’ the source explained. ‘It sounds strange but she’s adamant they work.’
Gaga’s Born This Way Ball global tour begins on April 27 in Seoul before making its way to Europe.
Dannii Minogue feels ‘incredibly raw’ following Simon Cowell’s revelation of his attraction to her.
Simon has reportedly spoken out about his feelings for the Australian singer during her time working with him as a judge on the UK version of The X Factor.
The disclosure of his ‘crush’ was made in The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell, a book written by BBC journalist Tom Bower.
Dannii, who has recently split from her beau of four years Kris Smith, the father of her 21-month-old son Ethan, is thought to be enraged by Simon’s commentary.
‘She’s understandably distraught by all of this coming out just as she’s struggling to cope with the breakdown of her relationship with Kris,’ a source told British newspaper the Mirror.
‘It was all such a long time ago and to have to deal with it now in the wake of the last few weeks is just too much. She is incredibly raw and this is the last thing she wants to endure.’
Dannii and her associates feel that Simon’s remarks were tactless.
‘Dannii was very much collateral damage in all of this. It’s betrayal, pure and simple,’ the insider continued. ‘And it looks very much now like Simon simply hired Dannii, used her, then spat her out afterwards. If Simon revealed the intimate nature of their affair to anyone, it is ungentlemanly and a betrayal.’
The pair fueled rumours of an affair after they were pictured seemingly holding hands in the back of a car in 2008.
Dannii appeared on the X Factor from 2007 to 2010. Simon left in 2011 to launch the talent show in the US.
Lady Gaga is turning to a team of astrologers ahead of her world tour – as she is “worried” her stars aren’t aligned.
The pop songstress is gearing up for her Born This Way Ball global tour, which begins on April 27 in Seoul before making its way to Europe.
Gaga is said to have consulted spiritual experts before hitting the road, for fears her wrongly-aligned stars won’t serve in her favour.
‘Gaga is worried as she wants the stars to be aligned when she hits the road. She follows her horoscopes closely and has been looking ahead for when she’s away,” a source told British newspaper The Sun.
Astrologers have revealed that Mercury travels backwards through the sky around three times a year, and will occur half way through Gaga’s tour dates.
The 26-year-old singer consulted horoscope experts to put her mind at ease.
‘She’s a typical Aries – outgoing with a sense of adventure,” the source added.
‘But when she found out Mercury is likely to go retrograde, she wasn’t happy and has been talking it through with her spiritual team.’
Katy Perry’s recent trip to India helped with the “unresolved pain” of her marriage breakdown, says a source.
The singer has been hitting headlines with her turbulent love life of late. After splitting from estranged husband Russell Brand at the end of last year, the beauty is believed to have recently ended her romance with 22-year-old model Baptiste Giabiconi.
Katy and Russell wed in India following a whirlwind romance. She recently returned to the country to perform and sources say the star used the trip as closure.
“I think Katy knew she had unresolved pain that she needs to let go of, but she felt ready to go back to India,” a source told British magazine more!
“She’d have known it would be strange experiencing the same sights, smells and sounds alone, compared to being there when she was with Russell and in love.”
Katy is reportedly focusing on her well-being while in the spiritual country.
“Katy’s going to go to a few temples and just slow down,” the insider continued. “She’s been working non-stop since she became single, so taking some time to think should help let all that pain go.
“I heard she’s hugely positive and focusing on living in the moment, not ruining the present by over-thinking the past.”
