Royksopp release ‘Senior’ – the counterpart to last year’s critically acclaimed album ‘Junior’ – on the 13th September. More introspective and freeform than its poppier partner and fully instrumental, Svein Berge and Torbjorn Brundtland recorded ‘Senior’ at the same time as ‘Junior’ and it finds Royksopp in fine form.
Royksopp explain: “The two albums (‘Junior’ and ‘Senior’) have a kinship, in that they represent Royksopp`s two very different artistic expressions. ‘Junior’ – with emphasis on vocals, accessible melodies and harmonies, has the energy, the inquisitive temper and confident “hey-ho, let’s go!”-attitude of youth, whereas ‘Senior’ is the introverted, dwelling and sometimes graceful counterpart – brimfull with dark secrets and distorted memories, insisting “I’m old, I’ve got experince…’. Senior’ is furthermore an album about age, horses and being subdued – with devils breathing down your neck.”

Swedish superstar will perform a ‘never-before-heard mix’ of ‘Dancing on My Own’ with VMA house artist Deadmau5.
Somewhat lost in last week’s announcement that both Usher and Paramore will be performing at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards was the news of who else would be joining the festivities … and no, we’re not talking about the stars of “The Social Network.”
It’s Robyn, the Swedish superstar who, slowly but surely, has begun her stateside assault with a pair of highly touted pop albums (Body Talk Part 1 and Body Talk Part 2, both released this year, with a third installment due in December), a stirring single and video (“Hang With Me”), and a string of sweat-drenched, sweet-and-salty live shows. And on VMA night, she’ll take another step toward mainstream success when she performs with house artist Deadmau5 during the big show.
She’s just one of the artists who’ll be jamming with Deadmau5 — other confirmed acts include Travie McCoy and Jason Derülo — but she’s certainly the one with the most to prove. After all, to most VMA viewers, she’ll be the wild card, the great unknown. And, as she told MTV News, Robyn is more than honored to be performing … and definitely looking forward to the challenge.
“Deadmau5 is fantastic and I’m super-duper excited to be able to perform for the VMA audience,” she said in an e-mail. “I’m gonna be ‘dancing on my own’!”
That, of course, is a reference to a (really awesome) single from the first Body Talk album — she’ll be performing “a never-before-heard mix” of it at the VMAs — and though you probably aren’t familiar just yet, we’re willing to bet that after Robyn rocks the show, that will change. Quickly.
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. ET. Click here to listening the last Robyn song
Justin Bieber may only be a 16-year-old pop star, but he usually has the stamina of a globe-trotting Olympic marathoner. Despite his superhuman ability to jet from one coast to the next on a weekly basis, however, even the Biebs gets taken low every once in a while.
That was the case on Sunday, when Bieber was forced to cancel his concert at the New York State Fair in Syracuse due to illness. According to the fair’s website, Bieber bailed on his Sunday night show and rescheduled for Wednesday (September 1). Because of the switch, promoters were also forced to push Wednesday’s previously scheduled Bieber show at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire, to December 9.
On Friday, Bieber tweeted that he was psyched for the weekend’s shows but was not feeling well. “Next is Jersey, then Syracuse, then MSG in NYC for the 3D movie!!” he wrote that night. “Been super sick lately but u guys are carrying me. thank u for the love.”
He was reportedly energetic during his show at New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Saturday night, though, showing no signs of the impending … Bieber fever.
But on Sunday afternoon, Bieber’s enthusiasm had clearly been sapped a bit. He tweeted,” really don’t know what to twitter … I’m getting rest right now and trying to recover from the not so good news from the doctor.”
Though he didn’t mention that the Syracuse show had been canceled, he followed with a shout out to fans. “I’m gonna be OK just need 2 rest but I wanted all of u 2 know I never want to let any of u down. I really appreciate all the kind words.”
The New York Daily News reported that the singer’s spokesperson vowed that Tuesday’s Madison Square Garden show will go on, which is good news for fans who were hoping to be part of Bieber’s 3-D movie, which is slated to take place at the concert.
