‘Wanderlust’ will be Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s fifth studio album. Co-written, produced and arranged by acclaimed singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt, Wanderlust was recorded in a London studio in just two weeks with a tightly-knit group of musicians and friends.
First single ‘Young Blood’ is a life affirming testament to true love, beautifully accompanied by Ed Harcourt’s plaintive piano and soaring string arrangement.
“The album is about roaming and your sense of where you come from, and how you take home with you but you also have this desire to get out there and see the world. I found making this album really empowering. I felt like after ten years of making records, this is like the biggest present to myself. I’m really proud of it and I feel really excited.”
Sophie’s new album sees the 34 year old star blossoming into an accomplished singer -songwriter with its 11 powerfully understated songs showcasing a newfound maturity, both lyrically and musically.
Tracklisting for Wanderlust is as follows:
Birth of an Empire
Until the Stars Collide
The Deer & the Wolf
13 Little Dolls
Wrong Side of the Sun

The singer is currently on her Diamonds World Tour and travelled to the South African city after playing in Johannesburg Sunday.
The Stay hitmaker was joined by her mother, aunt and other family members and filled up her Instagram newsfeed Monday with a series of strange poses of herself with animals as she documented their trip.
“Aquarium visit with the fam today in Cape Town, good times,” she captioned a shot of herself on a balcony above images of the Atlantic Ocean.
In a more bizarre image, she posed in a black and white outfit next to a penguin.
“B***h stole my look,” Rihanna mused.
“G’d up crab,” she captioned another image of herself with a giant crustacean.
Rihanna’s social media feeds have become subject to increased scrutiny in recent weeks after it was revealed an Instagram photo she posted of herself posing with a protected primate known as the slow loris led to the arrest of two men in Phuket last month.
According to the Associated Press, just this week a sex show owner in the city was charged with obscenity and operating an entertainment venue without a permit after Rihanna referenced a venue that was allegedly operating illegally.
The singer has not commented publicly about the arrests.
Rihanna is scheduled to play in Johannesburg Wednesday night before travelling to the Middle East and North America, where she will wrap the tour.
The star’s last show on the trek will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana November 15.
The music producer was astonished by reports of Justin starting a fight with a DJ in South Korea. And he didn’t hold back in making his feelings clear about the incident.
‘Dear @justinbieber, would you please grow the f*ck up already? In the meantime, put a shirt on, and stay away from nightclubs,’ Deadmau5 tweeted to his 2.4 million followers. ‘Someone needs to jump on Justin’s stage and start telling him what to play. I apologize on behalf of Canada.’
The 32-year-old is referring to an alleged incident that took place at a Pusan nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning. Bieber allegedly went into the DJ booth and demanded hip-hop music be played. When his request was denied, the 20-year-old verbally attacked DJ Michael Woods, who tweeted about the incident after.
‘Story is @justinbieber + his army of heavy security muscled in to the booth half way thru my set in S. Korea demanding hip hop (sic),’ tweeted Woods.
Deadmau5 went on to say if Justin ever did that to him, he would teach the 20-year-old a lesson. As a result of the tweets, Justin’s fans were quick to attack Deadmau5 on the social networking site.
‘I’m sorry, but if you got up in my face while I was performing, and demanded me to play some bullsh*t, I’d probably punch you in the neck,’ fumed Deadmau5.
‘Ok kids. You got me. I’m just jealous that I will never be able to hire writers and producers to make me a chart topper. That’s about it.’
The 25-year-old Barbadian beauty’s Los Angeles home was allegedly invaded by Jonathan Whooper twice since the end of September.
According to TMZ, a judge “issued a temporary restraining order against Whooper, ordering him to stay at least 100 yards away” from Rihanna’s residence after he was taken into custody on October 4th.
The outlet reports Whooper caused mass destruction on Rihanna’s Pacific Palisades, California mansion before his arrest.
“Whooper made multiple trips to the home. During the incident on the 29th [of September], cops say he broke into the home, triggering the alarm,” the website writes.
“When he couldn’t disarm the system, he decided to leave… but not before breaking a glass patio table.”
Whooper returned just a few days later on October 4th, but he was confronted by security before he could cause further damage, according to the website.
When questioned about why he was at Rihanna’s residence, he supposedly told guards he was Rihanna’s “future husband”.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Rihanna claimed she was suffering “substantial emotional distress and concern for her personal safety” following the incidents.
Whooper has been charged with prowling and felony attempted burglary, vandalism and stalking.
Rihanna is expected to seek a more permanent order against Whooper when the case goes to court at the end of this month.
This is not the star’s first issue with stalkers. An overzealous fan was arrested on the roof of her Los Angeles house in June.
The singer is set to release her new album ‘Prism’ on October 28 but, in an interview with Billboard, she claimed she was planning on swapping her trademark pop sound for a folkier direction in the future.
I love Madonna to death, but she’s never going to give me that damn baton,” she said. “I’ll probably turn into more of a Joni Mitchell. As I inch towards my 30s, I think my fourth record will be more of an acoustic guitar album. That’s where I started when I was first discovered by Glen Ballard and got my first record deal.”
She added: ‘We’ll see – I can’t get ahead of myself. I’m still doing the work: I’m a good balance of left and right brain, and to be an artist with a long career, you’ve got to have both. One thing John [Mayer] said to me was, ‘It’s harder maintaining success than finding it.’ I’ve got a few records under my belt, and I still feel like a brand new artist. People still want that truth to cut through.”
Perry is expected to debut new material from ‘Prism’ this evening, as she plays the closing night of this year’s iTunes Festival at London’s Roundhouse. Previously, she has unveiled the lead single from the LP, ‘Roar’, which spent a fortnight at Number One on the UK’s Official Singles Chart, and she recently previewed another track from the album called ‘Dark Horse’
stars Australian actress Bella Heathcote [Dark Shadows, Not Fade Away] as a cleaner in a casino. The clip also states that English actor Max Minghella [The Social Network] will appear in the full-length video, which will premiere tomorrow (September 27).
The new song features on the band’s forthcoming Best Of compilation, which is titled ‘Direct Hits’ and will be released on November 11. The 15-song compilation will also feature another new song, called ‘Just Another Girl’, which sees the band reunite with longtime collaborator Stuart Price. ‘Shot At The Night’ meanwhile will be released as a single on November 4, and is produced by M83′s Anthony Gonzalez.
randon Flowers said that releasing a Best Of was another significant milestone for the band, who recently played Wembley Stadium. He said: “This record feels like a great way to clean everything up and move onto the next thing.”
He also revealed that ‘Direct Hits’ has been under discussion since the start of the year, although the prospect of writing new songs for the record “sort of threw me for a curveball. I’m always writing, it’s like second nature to me now, but I’m always analysing what I’ve got, and doubts can start creeping into your head. But I’m really happy with the songs we’ve got to add to the list.”
The tracklisting for ‘Direct Hits’ is:
‘Somebody Told Me’
‘Smile Like You Mean It’
‘All These Things That I’ve Done’
